The Client

Family Inc. is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit 501(c)(3). Their organization provides social justice related programs covering the arts and education. In winter 2020, Addressing a yearly film festival Leimert Park area, family was given the opportunity to host their film festival as a Covid safe Event at the Crenshaw Baldwin Hills Mall. This create an opportunity to expand From a neighborhood film festival to one that could potential he affect and reach film fans throughout the city of Los Angeles. With that opportunity it became apparent that the festival required sponsorship help.

Project Challenge

  • Draft a new IKRFF page on Famlisoul.org 
  • Produce new print collateral, promoting the opportunity for local businesses to sponsor the festival.

Sponsorship works best in two phases: 

Phase 1) Identify your audience & partners. Phase 2) Develop your content, estimate your event costs & begin creating relevant collateral.

Discovery & Strategy

  • Competitive analysis of other small film festival websites, many of which are Black and African-American themed throughout the United States
  • Work to identify the festival’s core audience & potential partners
  • After interviewing the principals, develop outline of sponsorship deck and letter from the non profit chair
  • Develop event budget

The Solution

  • After identifying all of the events hard costs, Sidian began building the sponsorship ask.
  • Opted to not use Google or Facebook ads for sponsorship, but rather direct emails to business owners within the community.
