The Client

Family Inc. is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit 501(c)(3). Their organization provides arts and education programs within South Los Angeles. 

During the Covid-19 crisis of 2020, Famli  began planning to host their yearly I’ve Known Rivers Film Festival (IKRFF) as an outdoor drive-in event at the Crenshaw Baldwin Hills Mall.

Project Challenge

This project required two months of campaigning around the event and it’s subsequent films. Similar to the Los Angeles pan African film festival, The organization needed to sell tickets online, recruit volunteers, and provide information for sponsors.

Our goal was to create a visual identity to suggests an outdoor drive-in unique to South Los Angeles. The festival provides the community with moire than just film, it also includes poetry, comedy, and social justice commentary 

Discovery & Strategy

Sidian Agency scheduled meetings with Family Inc. to develop a detailed plan for online social media efforts. This included creating a unique Facebook group for IKRFF and populating it with relevant information and links back to Familysoul.org, the organization’s website.

We also discussed streamlining the method of selling tickets online via a compatible payment processor.

The Solution 

  • Sidian developed an Eventbrite page for the festival including a custom API connection to the organization’s Facebook group page, allowing them to sell tickets through Eventbrite directly on on the Facebook group page.
  • In addition created a Facebook event which also included Eventbrite purchasing capabilities.
  • Delivered custom graphics and copy for individual Facebook posts on the family soul group page and the I’ve known rivers film festival Facebook page. Each post was re-formatted to also appear on the Famli Instagram page within it’s appropriate size dimensions and content limitations.
